This is great, I will visit some other forums and have some of my friends get back here. $100 sounds great. I can use $100.00.

But shouldn't the award be given to any type of writing? Maybe short stories, short fiction, short plays, as well as poetry?

Dark Side of Light

Just the other side of light
Just the other side of light is…
Happiness and Love
Insight to sighting lightning
Passing over the dark green earthy blues
Who could get lost
Just the other side of light where is…
Just the other side of light?
Who knows who or what went, where or why Just the other side
Something tells me it’s all there
Some in black and blues and some in white
Others lost in dark grey hues of cast away red
Just the other side of light
Just the other side of light…
Never black shadows cast against
Any earth, moon or planet in the sky
Falling around this empty space forever
Making patterns, scratching time
Just the other side of light
Just the other side of light
Just the other side
The other side makes bright glow
The quick death of the white shadow
And forgives every detail
Of a waking new life

The Covered Bridge

big elk creek climbs slowly down the hill running
from saginaw street to mt. hope road
down through the dogwood trees to old oxford way
to lincoln avenue, then down the road enter the old school

a hundred years might pass or so the winds wont know
which way to blow or if hard or soft
leaves still fall down the enchanted forest’s meadowed hill
a cluttered orange, brown and the yellow-green glow

of nature’s castaway clothes
the sound the Enchanted Forest makes
draws us so near to it, so close, when really far away
come look, enjoy, and hear the sounds that pass by

Monumental Commotion

Perpetual motion makes the world go round
Monumental commotion starts the revolution in town
In the middle of china, a culture being stopped
The people who follow, are slowly being dropped

The political-establishment turns a blind eye
To the people who look different, they slowly watch die
The information super highway, is blocked to the truth
For the people who suffer, they are depriving their youth

So many surrender, and give up all hope
Some turn to beer and drugs and cant even cope
But to those powerful few, they keep it alive
They struggle for their country, to help their culture thrive

Is this is the lesson, our children should learn
Business is business, even if it means cultures should burn
This goes out to the strong, and the weak too
Don’t let the social-infrastructure defeat the culture in you
